Yet another reason to LOVE Tuesdays:

The Bar of Soap offers $1 off all loads every Tuesday.  Be productive and de-stinkefy those dirty clothes, all while enjoying a can of your favorite beer - they have a great selection.  Not only can you drink AND do your laundry, but they also have an extensive used book collection!  I can’t imagine a better way to do laundry!

333 Merrimon Ave.

The Wine Studio has a free wine tasting every Saturday from 2-6pm.  Head over and try some wine before deciding on a bottle for the evening.

The Wine Studio - 169 Charlotte St.

The Fine Arts Theatre offers discounted tickets on Tuesdays for only $5.  There are usually two films to choose from, most of which are highly rated independent films.  Check their website for current films and showtimes.

Fine Arts Theatre - 36 Biltmore Ave. (Downtown)

I recently stopped by Storm and was very impressed. The bar was classy and the bartender was very pleasant.  I was overjoyed to find that Storm hosts two nights of cheap drinking per week.  On Sundays, enjoy 1/2 price well liquor, beer & house wine.  On Tuesdays, buy any bottle of wine for half the price.  This is a great place to stop for a few drinks with a friend after a busy work week.

Storm Rhum Bar - 125 S Lexington Ave. (Downtown)

On Saturday, check out the Asheville Earth Day extravaganza downtown on Lexington Avenue.  The festival starts at noon and runs through 10pm, with live music and activities for the whole family.  And the best part, it’s FREE!

Asheville Earth Day

Celebrate this 4/20 with Alligator Indian as they perform songs from their latest LP, set to be released on the 23rd, along with musical guests Albert Adams, Part Time & Luke Puke at Warehouse #10.  What a wonderful event to celebrate this glorious day.  The show is free to get in and, thankfully, BYOB!  That means 40oz are acceptable and the cheapest way to drink.  See you there!

Checkout the Facebook event page for more info and directions.

Join the Wine Studio of Asheville every Wednesday for an inexpensive wine tasting.  For a mere $5, you will have the opportunity to try 5 different wines.  Some of the proceeds benefit a local nonprofit.  5pm - 8pm

The Wine Studio - 169 Charlotte St.

I really feel like I may be giving away all of my secret spots on this one, although it isn’t very secret.  A new favorite of mine, Tacos Jalisco in West Asheville, is an insanely cheap night.  Not only do they offer amazingly delicious tacos for $2.50 a piece (among other affordable Mexican delights), with meat options from pastor (pork) to tongue, but a 12 oz beer will only run you .99 cents - NO LIE!  Leave with a full belly, a beer buzz and money in your wallet.

1328 Patton Ave.

I finally made a stop at Vinnie’s last night for a much needed date night.  The food wasn’t half bad, but a little on the pricier side.  The portions are so large, however, that any of their pasta plates could easily be split between two people.  More importantly, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a small bar inside and some great drink specials.  Vinnie’s is a great date spot or grab seats at the bar and have a few drinks with friends.  To top everything off, the service is exceptional.  Here are their weekly specials:

  • Sunday: Kids 10 & Under Eat Free
  • Monday: Half Off Wine Bottles
  • Tuesday: $2 Local Pints

Vinnie’s Neighborhood Italian - 641 Merrimon Ave.

Looking for a cheap and delicious lunch special downtown?  Try Roman’s Takeout!  For 5 bucks, you can have half of a sandwich and a side OR soup and a side.
